practice as a gateway
Practice is sacred. Something special and deep. Something that can change you at the very core of your being because it allows you the space to remember. As with most sacred experiences, there aren’t many words to describe the feeling of finding a practice that sparks the divine within you and as with most sacred practices you don’t need much if anything to start.
Just the will to show up and a healthy curiosity.
When something is divine it can be described in a feeling, a knowing, deep within ourselves that tethers to the beyond. The languages we’ve created are vast and wonderful but they still lack when it comes to the god like nature residing in us all. Any experience that closens us to the ether whether it be something as joyful as birth or something as profound as death reverberates. There is a resonance to those who have experienced the same, an understanding, a knowing. There is also the newfound wisdom that everyone on earth will eventually face these feelings if they haven’t already.
Shying away from this is often what feels the most comfortable and I get that. Who wants to talk about death. But the yoga practice is in fact a beautiful preparation for these unknown moments that wait for all of us. The yoga practice can show us where we are afraid and give us tools to understand and befriend our fear. To come face to face with the unknown and realize that along with fear the divine spark also lives. That love is central to our existence and it’s a resonance we can trust.
Love as a vibration, as an entity. Not love that we give our lovers, or family, although yes this is good. Love as a divine frequency and safe haven for us to lean into. To know that we at the very core of our humanness are truly the vibration of love. We are always searching and looking for it even in the illusion of the lack of it. Our practice can break the boundaries we have built within ourself so that we can see into the truth of our essence. Each practice is a gateway, almost as if you have a small mallet and are chipping away little by little at a rock wall until it opens and we walk through.
Now forgetting is an extremely common experience when doing the practice. Often times we forget after just a few minutes of walking through the gateway. As soon as we resume our earthly duties we have amnesia. The more we practice, the more we can keep our connection to the divine love alive and unhidden. Each time we practice the gateway opens and we can walk through. The more frequently we walk through, the less frequently we forget. The more we can live in the resonance of love.
If ever you have forgotten that you are a loving being; practice. Begin so that you can once again crack the gateway open and remember who you are. You need nothing to start.
Begin as many times as you need to.
Begin again and again and again and again.
With love and peace
